Global Reciter Contest launched today at a press conference organized by Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs

Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments held a press conference today, Tuesday, 1st April 2014, at Isa Cultural Centre for launching the Bahrain International Holy Quran Recitation (Global Reciter) over the Internet under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Honorable attendees of the press conference include Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa; the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Secretary-General Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Shomali; eGovernment Authority (eGA) CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed; Information Affairs Authority (IAA) President Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Arcapita Bank CEO Atef Abdul-Malik.

The Global Reciter Contest is an international competition for the recitation of the Holy Quran which is open for interested participants from all over the world.  Contesters are enabled to access the Global Reciter’s website to record "live" video recitations. The recorded recitations will be evaluated online by a jury panel through five stages, and the first five winners who qualify for the finales will be honoured in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Notably, by organizing this unprecedented online Global Reciter Contest, the Kingdom of Bahrain stands out as a global leader in Quranic competitions which ensures its commitment and leading role in serving the Holly Quran and encouraging young generation to recite the Quran.

A key feature that distinguishes this contest is the partnership and close cooperation between public and private sectors as it is privileged by the diamond sponsorship of Arcapita Bank, Gulf Air Company and Al-Ayam newspaper; and golden sponsors from Gulf Trading Bank, Bahrain Aluminum Company (Alba), Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB), Al-Watan newspaper and Sheraton Hotel.
