The Organizing Committee announces the 3rd Global Reciter Competition to be launched shortly

The Organizing Committee of the Bahrain Web-based International Quran Recitation (Global Reciter) has recently held a meeting chaired by the Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Dr. Fareed bin Yaqoub Al-Miftah and discussed the preparations for launching the 3rd version of the competition.

Dr. Farid hailed the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the high attention of HM government led by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to serving the holly book and Quran memorizers as well as to spreading the teachings and values of Quran among various society groups. He also praised the official sponsor HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs for his support and consideration and the keen follow up of HE Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice & Islamic Affairs to serving the holly Quran, developing the outcome of the Quaranic centers all over the Kingdom and disseminating Quranic culture among the society groups. Dr. Farid appreciated the efforts of the Technical Partner, Information & eGovernment Authority and the Media Partner, Information Affairs Authority, stating that the competition has been honored by numerous partnerships from various institutions which reflect an example of social partnership and integration between public and private sectors in support of communal engagement concept pursuant to the leadership’ keenness to promote and encourage growth through partnerships, and praised the efforts of  Quran Affairs Directorate in organizing the event.

During the meeting various organizational matters were discussed, including the selection of the jury members comprising 60 evaluators from 20 countries, based on their experience in evaluating local and international Quran recitations. Additionally, 11 representatives have been selected from 11 Arab and Islamic countries based on their experience in organizing national Quran recitations in order to promote the competition and liaise with Quran institutions and competitors qualified for all stages. The Quran Affairs Directorate, represented by Competitions Unit has sent around 13 thousand emails to the Quranic institutions and individuals to different countries worldwide to introduce the competition and publicize the launch of the 3rd version shortly.

The meeting also discussed the enhancements made to the competition by adding a new branch for Young Reciters under the age of 17 years, renaming other branches as well the awards for the winners, in addition to other technical enhancement made to website and mechanism of promoting the competition in coordination with the National Contact Center at the Information Affairs Authority and identifying venue for the honoring ceremony which is scheduled in April 2018, as well as other arrangement to organize the launch Press Conference of the 3rd edition in August 2017 at the Isa Cultural Center.
