Under the Royal patronage, “Global Reciter” aims to highlight the Kingdom’s efforts to serve the holly Book

Under the auspices of HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Quran Affairs Directorate of Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments is preparing to hold the press conference launching the third edition of the Bahrain Web-based International Quran Recitation (Global Reciter) next August at Isa Cultural Center. The closing ceremony of the competition is scheduled to be in April 2018.

In an official statement, the Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Fareed bin Yaqoub Al-Miftah praised the full support of the wise leadership to the Holy Quran as led by HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. In addition to the actual directives of HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and keen follow up of HE Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice & Islamic Affairs to serve the holly Quran, improve the outcome of Quaranic centers all over the Kingdom and disseminate Quranic culture among the society groups.

The Ministry Undersecretary added that the Global Reciter Competition is a global contest for the Holy Quran recitation, which is open for participants from anywhere in the world who have access to the internet service.  Competitors can visit the competition website and video-record selected verses. Then juries will evaluate the uploaded recitations, and categorize them in five stages, eventually the shortlist of the winners will be honored in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“The Competition aims to serve the Holy Quran, encourage all age groups to recite it, highlight the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in serving the Holy Quran at the global level and augment the Kingdom's initiatives in the field of eGovernment”, He added .

Dr. Fareed pointed out that a new branch -Young Reciter – has been introduced for those under the age of 17 years, in order to accommodate the diverse potentials of reciters, respond to the public demands and the Organizing Committee desire to allow as many participants as possible. Furthermore, three branches have been renamed: “Best Tajweed Reciter”, commonly used in events, such as the recitations of Shaikh Mohammed Rif’at and Shaikh Mustafa Ismaeel, and others, the Best Tarteel Reciter commonly used in prayers or completion of Quran (Khatma) such as the recitations of Shaikh Mohammed Ayoub and Shaikh Sa’ad Al- Ghamidi and others, and Audience Reciter Award added to the 2nd version, in which Audience Reciter who attains 95% votes or above in Tajweed, aesthetic sound and Performance and Reciters’ Mine Award which is awarded to the Quran institution with the highest number of competitors/participants in the Global Reciter competition.

Dr. Al-Miftah stated that the Global Reciter has been privileged by numerous partnerships that underpin the social partnership and integration among public and private sectors.

The Global Reciter is the first of its kind in the world being an achievement of the reformatory era of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, who supports the Holy Quran with his sublime guidance to implement this noble march. The ministry, represented by the Quran Affairs Directorate, has continued to prepare, implement, follow up and evaluate the competition, as well as the leadership's attention to support the Quranic teaching centers, and monitor the activities of these centers through enacting laws and regulations that have been approved under the supervision of the ministry. All these efforts have contributed over the last 15 years in the graduation of a group of qualified reciters from the Quran centers spread in the various governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
