Islamic Affairs’ Delegation Visits Religious Institutions in Bangladesh Global Reciter Receives Momentum Interaction

A delegation from the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments led by Shaikh Abdulla Al Qahtan Al-Omari, Quran Affairs Director and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Web-based Competition for Holy Quran Recitation (Global Reciter) visited a number of religious institutions in the Republic of Bangladesh where the Competition received momentum interaction.

Remarkably, Bangladesh Islamic Affairs took the initiative to promote Global Reciter by urging the engagement of Quranic institutions and centers and distrusting promotional posters at the national mosque Baytul Mukarrom (capacity 50,000 visitors) - located at the center of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh.

The official visit is part of a campaign carried out by the Ministry to promote the Global Reciter locally and globally with an aim to introduce Global Reciter which is privileged with the patronage of His Royal Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain.

The delegation was welcomed by Director General Islamic Foundation Bangladesh Shamim Mohammad Afzal at the Islamic Affairs Ministry in the presence of officials responsible for Quranic competitions and religious awareness. The meeting of the two parties stressed the importance of strengthening the ties between the two countries and spreading awareness of the noble Islamic values.

Mr. Al Omari thanked Bangladesh officials for their hospitality, stressing the important role of the Islamic Foundation in promoting Global Reciter and urging various specialized Quranic centers and institutions to participate in the competition.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the Holly Quran International School, which caters for more than 1,000 students and teachers. During the visit, they met the director, attended a presentation about the school’s experience in teaching Quran, and reviewed data of previously graduated memorizers. In turn, the Bahrain delegation presented the idea of Global Reciter and showcased the mechanism of participation to the learners and teachers, focusing on the important mission and role of the educational institutions in instilling Quranic education among new generation.

The delegation also visited the Holy Quran and Sunnah school, which accommodates about 5,000 students in several branches across the country.  This included a meeting with the school’s principal Mr. Najm Hassan and a number of the educational and administrative staff, and examined the method of teaching. Finally, Shaikh Omari presented the idea of Global Reciter and the mechanism participation.
