In an Official statement, the Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Fareed bin Yaqoub Al-Miftah lauded the wise leadership efforts in supporting the Holy Quran as evidenced by its keen follow up and comprehensive support and guidance to servicing Quran, improving the output of Quranic institutions and centers in the Kingdom and spreading the Quranic culture across various segments of the society.

“The International Quran Recitation (Global Reciter) is open for participants from anywhere across the globe where internet is available. Competitors can access the Global Reciter’s website (www.quran.bh) to record "live" video recitations. Panels of jury will evaluate the uploaded recitations electronically through five stages to select the top five winners who will finally be honoured in the Kingdom of Bahrain”, he added.

Dr. Al-Miftah elucidated that the competition aims to serve the Holy Quran, encourage youth at different ages to recite Quran, in addition to highlighting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in caring for the Holy Quran at the international level and reinforcing the efforts and unique initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain in eGovernment arena.

He pointed out that, beside the “Reciters Mine” award allocated for the institution that records the highest number of participants, a new Public Choice Award has been added to select the winner who obtains the highest votes providing that the reciter’s score in Tajweed is 90% or above. In addition, the Competition has been divided into two sections - instead of one. The first section will cater for Tarteel (moderate recitation) and the second section will cater for Tadweer (fastness without merging of the letters). The committee was keen to attract various abilities and desires of reciters and respond to audience demands.
