Recitations Evaluation
All recitations are evaluated by highly qualified jury members with academic caliber and experience in evaluating local and international Quran recitations. The jury has no access to the contester's information.

The evaluation is based on the following criteria:

Main criteria(1): Applying Tajweed Rules: 60% of the total score distributed into the following sub-criteria:

  • Sub criteria(1): Correct recitation of Quran.
  • Sub criteria(2): Points of vocal Articulation and its attributes (makharij and Sifat) 40%.
  • Sub criteria(3): Redundant characteristics (Sifat aaridah) 30%.
  • Sub criteria(4): Stop and the Start (Waqf & Ibtida) 10%.
  • Sub criteria(5): Vowel and Non-vowel marks 10%Sub criteria(6): Obscured of Tajweed 10%.

Main criteria(2): Aesthetic sound and performance: 40% of the total score distributed into the following sub-criteria:

  • Sub criteria(1): Euphony & pleasing sound 30%.
  • Sub criteria(2): Illustration of Quranic implied meaning 30%.
  • Sub criteria(3): Aspects of layers and control of sound waves 20%.
  • Sub criteria(4): Opening and closing of verses 10%.
  • Sub criteria(5): Control of breath 10%.


Grievances Process

Competitors’ grievances are considered as follows:

  • Competitors have the right to complain against the result within a period not exceeding 7 days from the date of it issuance. 
  • Grievances to be submitted by email from the website, with justification.
  • The Quality Control team will study the grievance request and the grievance will receive the reply within a period not exceeding 7 days from the date of receipt. 
  • If a competitor’s score is less than 60%, the grievance will not be considered.
  • Decision of the Quality Control panel shall be final.

Mechanism for considering competitors grievances:

  • Stage 1: All grievances are considered in each category. If the average score in each Main Criteria is 70 or more, and the difference between juries’ scores is ten marks or more, Otherwise, the appeal will be rejected.
  • Stage 2: All grievances are considered in each category, and unless the average score in each Main Criteria is 70 or more, and the difference between juries’ scores is five marks or more, then the appeal will be rejected.
  • Stage 3: All grievances are considered in each category, and unless the average score in each Main Criteria is 70 or more, and the difference between juries’ scores is five marks or more, then the appeal will be rejected.
  • Stage 4 & 5: No grievance in these two stages because the evaluation will be live in front of audience.
